SugarDoc HWP, HWPX & PDF Viewer Coming soon
Open Korean HWP and HWPX documents and PDFs straight from KakaoTalk or email, and find them again in your inbox. Reopen one and you are back where you left off.
SugarDoc (package name com.sugarmount.sugardoc) is being prepared for release on Google Play. The install link will be posted on this page once it is available.
What the app does
For school notices, government letters and office announcements that arrive as .hwpx, .hwp or .pdf. Open them straight from the app you received them in, and Back returns you there. Documents are never uploaded; they open on this device only.
- Open from the app you received it in — tap the file in KakaoTalk or email, choose Open with and pick SugarDoc. You can also open the app and use Find in my files. No storage permission is requested.
- Read — turn and jump to pages, pinch to zoom, find text in the document, and select and copy text. Heavy documents show progress; if one takes long, you get a quick preview first or can hand it to another app.
- Find it again — documents you open collect in the inbox. Find them by file name instead of scrolling through chats, and reopen at the same page and zoom.
You can print or save as PDF from the print screen, share the original or open it in another app. There is no editing or creating documents (view only).

If an HWPX file will not open
- Pick SugarDoc in Open with — tap the file in KakaoTalk or email, then Open with (or Open with another app), and choose SugarDoc. Tap Always if you do not want to choose every time.
- SugarDoc is not in the list — some apps pass .hwpx files on as generic files, so no document app shows up. Save the file to your device first, then open SugarDoc and pick it with Find in my files.
- Another app opens straight away — if you once set another app as the default, the chooser does not appear. In Android Settings > Apps > that app > Open by default, clear the defaults and try again.
Menu names vary slightly by app and Android version. If it still will not open, email us your device model, Android version and the app you received the file in. You do not need to send the document itself.
No ads, and privacy
- No ads anywhere in the app. No ad SDK and no advertising ID.
- Documents open on your device only. There is no upload or conversion server, and the document view does not use the internet.
- The inbox keeps copies of documents in app-private storage. They are not backed up, keeping them can be switched off in Settings, and copies are cleaned up automatically above 500 MB in total or after 90 days unopened. They are deleted with the app.
- No all-files access, no drawing over other apps, no battery-optimization exemption. No sign-up.
- Anonymous usage stats and crash reports are on by default and can be switched off in Settings. Neither includes document contents or file names.

The planned price in Korea is KRW 6,900; the actual price is the one shown on Google Play at release. On a new device, “Restore purchase” in Settings reapplies a purchase made with the same Google account. App lock does not encrypt the document files themselves.
