Convert Image JPG PNG WEBP Coming soon

Turn photos into JPEG, PNG or WebP, saved as new files. Batches, and profiles for the rules you use often.

SugarConvert (package name com.sugarmount.sugarconvert) is being prepared for release on Google Play. The install link will be posted on this page once it is available.

What the app does

Use it when a form only accepts JPG, a logo has to be delivered as a transparent PNG, or shop photos need to become small WebP files. The app converts photos to JPEG, PNG or WebP and saves them as new files. Your original photos are untouched, and nothing is uploaded: photos are processed on your device only.

  1. Pick photos — choose photos with the Android photo picker. The app does not request a storage permission. Tap a photo if it should be saved in a format of its own.
  2. Choose the format and options — pick the output format and only the options that apply appear: quality and the colour behind transparent areas for JPEG, whether to keep transparency for PNG, lossy or lossless plus quality for WebP. The long edge, black & white and file naming are set here too, with a preview. Save the rule as a profile if you use it often.
  3. Review, then save or share — compare the original and the result side by side, then save or share. Saved photos go to the Pictures/SugarConvert folder.

Presets

JPG for forms
Quality 90, transparent areas filled with white.
WebP for the web
Quality 80, long edge reduced to 1920 px.
Transparent PNG
Keeps the transparency of logos and graphics.
Black & white JPG
Removes colour for documents and print.

One failed photo never stops the rest, and you can retry only the failed ones. Files that are already saved are not written again. The run history (date, counts, format, sizes) stays on the device and never records file names.

Supported formats and limits

Input formatsJPEG, PNG, WebP and still GIF. HEIC is converted when your device can decode it; a photo it cannot decode fails on its own.
Output formatsJPEG, PNG or WebP. Besides the batch rule, any photo can be given its own format. The extension always matches the format actually written.
Quality40–100 for JPEG and lossy WebP (default 90). PNG and lossless WebP do not use the quality setting.
TransparencySaving as JPEG fills transparent areas with the colour you chose (white, black or gray). PNG and WebP keep transparency down to soft edges, or fill it with a colour if you ask.
ResolutionKept by default. The long edge can be reduced to 1280, 1920, 2560 px or a value you enter (320–8000); photos are never enlarged. Only when the device runs short of memory is a photo reduced further, and the result screen says so.
MetadataLocation and camera metadata (EXIF) are not copied into the result.
Photos per batchFree: 20 · Pro: 100
Per photoUp to 50 MB and 50 MP
OriginalsNever modified. Results are saved as new files.
PlatformAndroid

Saving as PNG or lossless WebP does not restore detail a JPEG source has already lost, and the file can be larger. The result screen shows real file sizes and says so when a file got larger. Animated images and PDF are not supported.
