SugarClip - Share Anything You Copy
Effective date: October 4, 2026
This policy applies to the Android app SugarClip - Share Anything You Copy (package name com.sugarmount.sugarclip), published by simpest under the developer name SugarMount (“we”, “us”). It describes, based on the actual implementation, what data the app handles and what it does not.
1. Summary
| Data | How it is handled | Handled by |
|---|---|---|
| Copied content (clips), copy time and source label | Stored on your device only. The app never sends them to us or to the ad or analytics services (for Android backup, see section 8). | Your device |
| Clips you share | Passed to the share screen of the app you choose (KakaoTalk, Google Keep, OneNote, Evernote, etc.). You decide in that app whether to send. | The app you choose |
| Ad-related data (device identifiers, advertising ID, etc.) | May be collected by the Google AdMob SDK under Google’s policies. | |
| Usage statistics (app usage events, device information) | Collected automatically by Firebase / Google Analytics. | Google (Firebase) |
| App configuration and push notification token | The app contacts Firebase Remote Config for version and notice information and the list of share target apps, and Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications. | Google (Firebase) |
| Account information | Not collected; the app has no accounts. | — |
| Payment information | Not collected; the app has no in-app purchases. | — |
2. Clipboard and copied content
- SugarClip collects what you copy so you can reuse or share it. While the “clip saving service” is running, the app checks the clipboard about once per second and saves newly copied text as a clip. The service starts when you open the app and when the device restarts. While it runs, a status notification is shown, and you can pause or stop the service from its buttons. If you stop it, it starts again the next time you open the app. The app does not ask for the notification permission itself, so on Android 13 and later you may need to allow SugarClip notifications in Android Settings to see the status notification and its buttons.
- On Android 10 and later, Android blocks background apps from reading the clipboard, so clips are usually saved only while the SugarClip screen is open. On Android 9 and earlier, copies may be saved even while the app is in the background.
- For each clip the app stores the copied text (including its web/HTML form, if any), the time it was copied, the source label attached to the clipboard data, and the content type (text, web document, web address, etc.). This information is kept only in the app’s private storage on your device and is never sent to us or to the ad or analytics services. We do not operate a server for this app.
- When a new clip is saved, the app opens the share screen of the app you selected under “Clip save” (KakaoTalk by default; you can choose Google Keep, OneNote or Evernote instead). You can also share a clip from its detail screen. Sharing uses Android’s share feature, and you decide in that app whether to send and to whom. What happens afterwards follows the policy of the app you chose.
- Copied content may include sensitive information such as passwords, verification codes or account numbers. When copying such content, please pause or stop the service from the notification, and delete saved clips in the app. We cannot see your clips.
- The app does not use Kakao Login or any other external account sign-in. The share target list is a list of package names of share target apps that we provide through Firebase Remote Config; the app does not collect or transmit the list of apps installed on your device.
3. Permissions
Reading the clipboard itself does not require an Android permission. The permissions the app declares and what they are used for:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Foreground service, keep awake (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, WAKE_LOCK) | Keeps clipboard checking running while the clip saving service is on. |
| Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) | Restarts the clip saving service after the device reboots. |
| Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) | Added by the Firebase Cloud Messaging library and used to show the clip saving service’s status notification and app notices. The app does not request this permission while running, so on Android 13 and later notifications may appear only after you allow them in Android Settings. You can still use the app without allowing it. |
| Internet, network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE) | Used for ads, usage statistics, fetching app configuration (version and notice information, share target list) and push notifications. Never used to send clip content. |
| Advertising ID and related (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID / ATTRIBUTION / TOPICS) | Used by Google AdMob and Google Analytics to read the advertising ID and use the Android Privacy Sandbox ad APIs (see sections 4 and 5). |
| Install referrer (BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE) | Used by Google Analytics to see how the app was installed. |
| Other declarations (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW, READ_LOGS, GET_CLIPS, READ_CLIPS, WRITE_CLIPS) | Carried over from earlier versions. The current version does not request the “display over other apps” permission, and it does not read system logs (READ_LOGS is not granted to regular apps). None of these is used to collect personal data. |
The app does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, storage (photos or files) or call log permissions, and it does not use an accessibility service.
4. Ads
The app shows banner ads through Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). To serve ads and prevent fraud, the ads SDK may collect and process the following information under Google’s policies. Clip content is never passed to the ads SDK.
- Device identifiers and the advertising ID
- IP address (which may be used to estimate the device’s approximate location)
- Ad interactions (impressions, clicks, etc.) and app usage information
- Diagnostics (performance and error information from the ads SDK)
- Other items listed in Google’s Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure
This data is collected and processed by Google; we do not access it directly. Please see Google’s documentation for the exact items and purposes.
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services
- Google Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure
Your ad privacy choices
- The current version has no in-app ad consent screen or ad settings menu.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings > Google > Ads. Once deleted, it is not used for personalized ads.
- You can turn off personalized ads in My Ad Center for your Google account.
5. Usage statistics, app configuration and push notifications (Firebase)
The app uses Google’s Firebase services. Your copied content (clips) is not included in any of them.
- Usage statistics (Firebase / Google Analytics)
- Automatically collected events such as app opens and screen views, device information (model, OS version, app version, language, approximate country/region, etc.), the app instance ID, the advertising ID and the install referrer are sent to Google. We use this to improve the service and understand usage. The current version has no in-app setting to turn this collection off.
- App configuration (Firebase Remote Config)
- When the app starts, it fetches the latest version information, notices and FAQ content, and the list of share target apps. In doing so, technical information such as the Firebase installation ID and app version is sent to Google. Fetched content is stored on your device.
- Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)
- To allow notices to be delivered, a notification token is created for each device and registered with Google. We do not collect these tokens on any server of our own. If the app’s notifications are not allowed or are turned off in Android Settings, notifications are not shown.
6. Accounts and payments
The app does not create accounts or require sign-in. Because we keep no user accounts, there is no separate account deletion feature. The app has no in-app purchases.
7. Processors and international transfers
We do not sell or provide your personal data to third parties. However, we use the services below to show ads and run the app, and some information is transferred outside your country in the process. Copied content (clips) is not part of the transferred data.
| Recipient | Country | Data transferred | When and how | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google LLC (privacy contact) | United States and other countries where Google operates data centers | Device identifiers such as the advertising ID, IP address, ad interactions, app usage events, device information, install referrer, Firebase installation ID, notification token | Sent over the network from time to time while you use the app | Ads, usage statistics, app configuration, push notifications | According to Google’s policies and Firebase data retention settings |
If you do not want this transfer, please uninstall the app. Ads and analytics are part of how the app runs and cannot be turned off separately in the app.
8. Retention and deletion
| Data | Retention | How to delete |
|---|---|---|
| Saved clips (copied text, copy time, source label, content type) | Stored only in the app’s private storage on your device until you delete them. If Android backup is on, they may be included in your Google account backup. | Delete clips one by one in the app, clear the app’s data in Android Settings, or uninstall the app. |
| App settings (selected share target, display settings), fetched notices and version information, share target list | Stored only in the app’s private storage on your device and never sent to us or to the ad or analytics services. If Android backup is on, they may be included in your Google account backup. | Removed when you clear the app’s data in Android Settings or uninstall the app. |
| Clips shared to other apps | According to the policy of the app you chose | Delete them in that app. |
| Usage statistics, app configuration requests, notification token | According to Google (Firebase) data retention settings | Uninstalling the app stops further sending. To request deletion of existing data, contact us below. |
| Ad-related data | According to Google’s policies | Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings. |
We do not keep any personal data ourselves. Data on your device is erased when you clear the app’s data or uninstall the app. Copies in your Google account backup can be deleted from your Google account’s backup settings.
9. Your rights
You (or a legal guardian, for children under 14) can do or request the following:
- View and delete saved clips in the app
- Pause or stop the clip saving service from its notification
- Change the share target app under “Clip save”
- Allow or block notifications at any time in Android Settings
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings
- Send us a request to access, correct, delete or stop processing data sent to Google. We handle requests promptly to the extent we can verify, and for data that Google controls, we will point you to Google’s procedures.
10. Third-party services
| Service | Purpose | More information |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) | Ads | Google Privacy Policy |
| Firebase / Google Analytics | Usage statistics | Firebase privacy |
| Firebase Remote Config | Version information, notices and share target list | Firebase privacy |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Push notifications | Firebase privacy |
Share target apps such as KakaoTalk, Google Keep, OneNote and Evernote are not SDKs built into the app; they are separate apps that receive content through Android’s share feature when you choose to share.
11. Children’s privacy
The app is not directed primarily at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal data. If you believe a child’s data has been sent, please contact us below and we will help delete it to the extent we can verify.
12. Changes to this policy
If the way the app handles data changes, we update this page and its effective date.
